Checking Out The Monkey Business

The second chapter of The Fantastic Voyages of Johnny Shallow, Fool's Errand continues right where Exit At The Axis left off!

Johnny Shallow is determined to investigate the mystery he unwittingly stumbled into, despite being warned by the Windfall Gang... or perhaps, because of their warning.

In order to learn more, Johnny strikes a secret deal with one of the Gang's key associates, a Seattle lawyer named Gleason. It's an interesting proposition: Gleason will provide information in exchange for Johnny's services as a courier. And so Johnny begins his new life, running errands back and forth across the continent, all to learn about his adversaries, rarely looking back at what he's left behind.

Throughout all the action, Johnny's overactive imagination has not subsided, since he left Trudi Montague in Portland. No, this time his imagination rides shotgun in the form of a talking monkey companion named Chango! But it's turning out that even real life provides much more than meets the eye, and the plot Johnny investigates is nowhere near as clear as he'd thought. Johnny's wide awake on this road, but what is it he still can't see?

The second chapter of The Fantastic Voyages of Johnny Shallow, Fool's Errand is a mystery about motivation and observation, and how a search for truth could cost you your identity, your purpose, and possibly your life.

Note:

Fool's Errand has been on hold for a while now to make way for the newest Fool's Gold Press minicomic series Salvager Kain. While it does seem as if the story of Johnny Shallow might never be resolved, I'm pleased to say I do have plans to publish a fourth (and final) issue in the near future, concluding the original storyline in a oversize last installment. If you'd like to hear when this special chapter is available, please and mention Fool's Errand #4, and you'll be added to the mailing list!

Here's what some people have said online about Fool's Errand:

"Sloboda clings to genre storytelling like a bee-stung child to his father's torso.... Sloboda's comics have a sturdy, visual flair, particularly in their imaginative layouts, which he approaches with a playful enthusiasm reminiscent of Matt Wagner's more creative mainstream comics work." - The Comics Reporter
